British Captive John Cantlie Speaks on Obama’s 9/11 Anniversary Speech in New IS Video

In the second episode of the IS' video series "Lend Me Your Ears," British captive John Cantlie spoke on the 9/11 anniversary speech delivered by U.S. President Barack Obama, focusing on the build-up to war against the IS. The 5 minute, 34 second video was produced by the IS' al-Furqan Media Foundation, and was distributed on Twitter on September 29, 2014.

A banner accompanying the video listed a total of seven episodes, not including the introduction. Cantlie said that Obama's speech was "full of hyperbole" about the U.S. saving innocents, and "chest-beating about how the U.S.A. always saved the world singlehandedly". He pointed to Obama leading the U.S. into a vicious war and that the Iraqi forces and Syrian militants expected to do the ground work are undisciplined and ill-suited to the task.

He added: "It was all disappointingly predictable. America is good, the Islamic State is bad, and they will be defeated using aircraft and a motley collection of fighters on the ground. For their part, the Islamic State say they welcome meeting Obama's under-construction army."
