The Islamic State (IS) released a video of foreign fighters from Europe, North Africa, South Africa, Southeast Asia, and the United States promoting jihad and the “Caliphate” announced by the group.

The 20 minute, 52 second video, entitled, “Eid Greetings from the Land of Khilafah,” was produced by the IS’ al-Hayat Media Center, and was posted on its account on the social networking website Diaspora on August 2, 2014. The video opens with congregants in a mosque listening to a sermon about jihad and the Caliphate, and the pledging allegiance to the IS and its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdad. Footage features segments with a variety of foreign fighters from countries including Belgium, Britain, Finland, Indonesia, Morocco, South Africa, Tunisia, and the U.S., some calling Muslims to come with their families and experience the Shariah-based governance under its rule, and others telling Muslims to fight in its ranks. Many of these segments show the fighters with children.

The fighter from the U.S. is identified as Abu Abdurahman al-Trinidadi, originally from Trinidad. Standing with a child and a gun in his arms, he urged Muslims to come to Syria and participate in jihad, stating:

“I’m thinking like I’m still dreaming. I’m feeling like I’m still dreaming. By Allah the Exalted, I’m thinking like I’m in the dream world and I will wake up. I’m in Raqqah, I’m here in Sham. Allah is Great. This is a blessing from Allah. You have to be here to understand what I’m saying. If you stand away you will not understand. There’s a lot of munafiq, a lot of hypocrites, they want this to be not successful. But, glory be to Allah, Allah said they plan and Allah plans and Allah is the best of planners…

“Please O believers, come. Who can make it, come. Come to Sham as soon as possible. Do not make the Shaytan hold you back. The Shaytan is sitting on the road, to try to hold you back, but he does not have strength over the real believers. O Muslims, please, this is a call for you. Praise be to Allah…”
